    Currently the United Kingdom have no facility set out to provide discounts on renewable energy investment unless you are a large corporation.

    How would it work?

    In Australia and the United States of America, Small Scale Renewable Energy Certificate systems operate to reward individuals or SME for their investments. The certificate scheme further subsidies anyone who operates or invests in switching to new renewable or energy saving technology by reducing participants energy bills and encourages a faster transition.

    How will it reduce your energy bills?

    A certificates supplied along with every upgrade, purchase or investment in energy saving technology or renewable energy you would receive a certificate. Small Scale Renewable Energy Certificates are redeemed with your energy supplier. They are a form of currency called carbon credits, the energy provide can use the credits to reduce expenses caused by carbon they create and need to offset.

    What technologies are covered?

    We are suggesting that Small Scale Renewable Energy Certificates can be available for a wide range of solutions improving on schemes elsewhere in the world which include:

    • Portable Personal Energy Devices.
    • Solar photovoltaic (PV) panels.
    • Wind harvesting technology.
    • Hydro systems.
    • Motion energy systems.
    • Waste and water energy harvesting.
    • Solar water heaters, and
    • air source heat pumps.

    This does not include forestry schemes or carbon capture systems.

    What can this petition achieve?

    Any renewable energy source can be awarded a Small-scale technology certificates based on the systems expected power accumulated over a set period of years or until carbon neutralisation projects end (planned by 2030). This could be achieved by, providing a fixed time frame certificate and if the 2030 deadline is not achieved providing extensions if the appliance passes efficiency of the then current requirements.
