These devices appear similar but they are simply worlds apart. Unlike the Newton’s Cradle, which relies on collisions and stops within seconds, the Active Magnetic Cradle leverages magnetic forces for oscillations typically lasting over 2 minutes.
Because AMC does not operate using physical contact it does not loose energy to noise or vibration. By using a double pendulum string arrangement the coupled pendulum provides a robust motion that ensures the magnetic flux remains on a vertical axis.
